With the cold weather-- a lot of heaters in Florida, that are often unused most of the year -- are on full blast tonight. But for many homeowners who use kerosene to heat their houses-- they're struggling to find a good supply. Channel 4's Scott Johnson talked to one Talleyrand man who is having a hard time trying to stay warm with a Kerosene shortage. it may not be something you use...but a lot of homes... particularly older ones use kerosene heaters... and in talking to one man he says the supplies are low and he had to drive all over town to find it still at a reasonable price. 3 00-0911-15 because of this frigid weather Victor Robinson planned to fill up on kerosene for the heater he uses to heat his talleyrand home.18:46:33 - it's an older house and i'm not he only one.18:46:48 - we just heat up with kerosene and the prices are too far fetched. he was frustrated to find pumps like this one at a northside hess station out of fuel.... he went to station after station and found this was the case a lot of places. 18:46:11 - I was first over there off norwood at hess... they said dunns has it, so I went to dunn and they rann out. So we went over there off wilson, they were out.The one over there off i10, they were out. he found some places that still have kerosene in stock ... but at almost double the price.Luckily he found this gate station at 45th and moncrief where people have been consistently filling up all night with reasonable prices.in case you're unfamiliar with kerosene as a heating source... many people including Robinson use heaters like these and fill them up to heat their homes.Robinson is just happy he lives here and not up north where he would need heat that much more. 18:47:28 - thank god we're not up north, it could be worse. But we do need kerosene. 3 We contacted Hess about this... they tell Channel 4 they're aware of the problem. Its just that demand is high right now and they're trying to re-stock their supplies in jacksonville.
