This morning Consumer reports has released its list of the best and worst hospitals in our area ... Rankings are based on how safe they are -- and include a variety of factors like the number of people who have to go back to the hospital, infections and deaths. Last hour we told about the hospitals that ranked the highest on the list..Here are the 4 that came in at the bottom of the list...that did not do well. Baptist medical center Beaches-- it received a safety score of 47...out of 100. Orange Park Medical Center got a score of 46. Memorial hospital got second worst in the area with just 41 points in the area with just 41 points in safety. We reached out to the hospital about their ranking and here is what they had to say... "There are many groups that now rank or score hospitals, and the results can often be different.It's important for patients to do their research... We always strive to provide the best possible care to our patients, and we will use... ...all available information and data to improve what we do." At the bottom of the list: UF Health... They received a safety score of 30 In response the hospital wrote: "We review all outside reports, both positive and negative, on the care we provide to our patients because we are consistently striving to improve ourselves. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to compare hospitals without taking...... into consideration a multitude of outside factors. Regardless, our goal is to always provide the best service and outcomes to our patients and their families." We should also note that both Memorial and U-F health gave us examples of surveys where their hospitals ranked near the top. We've posted the hospitals' FULL statements on news 4 jax dot com.
