Weekend anchor, reporter
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Kent Justice has joined the local station as weekend evening anchor and evening reporter.
Kent has a passion for sharing the important stories in each person’s life, through any medium available.
“I would describe myself as a serial storyteller," he said. "To my kids, that’s painful, and they think sometimes it’s embarrassing. But I love to talk with people, and I love to both hear and tell a great story -- whether that’s in person, writing an article or blog or creating compelling TV.”
Kent came to Jacksonville from Columbus, Ohio -- “the most famous of the 10 Columbuses spread across America” -- where he spent nearly 12 years as an anchor on various shows.
“The assignment I truly loved, though, was as a consumer advocate. Working to help people solve their problems, especially when they were being taken advantage of. That’s so much more rewarding to me than some of the other stories we have to cover.”
Kent launched his professional journalism career at 17 years old as a sports writer for a large San Francisco area newspaper chain. That led to play-by-play and sportscasts in Montana, South Dakota and California before he turned his attention to news full time.
Kent has reported for and anchored television newscasts since 1996.
