Church hosts drug awareness march in Moncrief

Community participates in 21st annual march

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Arms of Mercy Drug Recovery Ministry held its 21st Drug March on Friday evening in the Moncrief neighborhood with a huge show of support.

People, even kids, marched from Golfair Boulevard to West 22nd Street to bring awareness to drug abuse, crime and violence.

Senior Pastor Quovadis G. Thomas stands with his church in trying to alleviate the problems in the city by hosting this three-day Arms of Mercy Drug Awareness Crusade.

"We love them and we care, and we are concerned about even the ones who are victimizing our citizens. We are praying for them," Thomas said. "If we unify, we're better together. We stand for one cause."

Thomas has been hosting the march for 21 years.

People were joined by Jacksonville sheriff''s officers in the march to make sure participants were safe.
