Con man threatened victims who complained

Postal Inspectors: Do research before buying online

U.S. Postal Inspectors are telling the story of a con man who actually threatened his victims who dared to complain about them, to the point that many of these victims feared for their lives.

The ads promised luxury eyewear at a fraction of the cost, but that's not what customers actually got.

"Many cases they were providing counterfeits knock-offs and used glasses," explained US Postal Inspector, Douglas Veatch.

Even more disturbing was if customers complained, the owner of "Décor My Eyes," Vitally Borker, threatened them.

"He became very upset with me when I said I would not pay the re-stocking fee and I would take it up with my credit card company," said Clarabelle Rodriguez, one of his victims.

Rodriguez eventually found a website where many of Borker's dissatisfied customers voiced their complaints.

"When he saw that I had also complained online he contacted me and said he was watching me if I continued to complain online about Décor My Eyes I was going to show up on the news. He told me he lived one bridge over from me and he would come to my home and he would rape me," said Rodriquez.

She called police, the US Attorney and Postal Inspectors to report Borker's harassment.

"I'm an avid runner, I stopped running. He managed to play mind games with me and I feared for my life. I feared I was in danger," said Borker.

After a lengthy investigation, Postal Inspectors arrested Borker on several fraud charges.

Postal Inspectors hope people do their research before buying online.

"If anyone in this case would have done a Google search on Décor My eyes they would have found a myriad of complaints," said Veatch.

Borker was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay more than $100,000.
