Kashi voluntarily recall snack bars, granola

Kashi announced a voluntary recall of Kashi® Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars and Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter.

They contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by SunOpta that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The company has received no reports of illness.

The recall is limited to Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars and Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter packed in two sizes.

  • Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter -- UPC Code 84623, 10163, Size 11 oz.

People who have purchased affected product should discard it and contact Kashi for a full refund.
