JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We know a lot of you will be coming to Channel 4 on April 15 with stacks of personal documents that you need to get rid of. Cintas Document Management is sponsoring the event this year and will shred your documents for free.
"Identity theft is huge and folks left and right are getting scammed. You have those online services but the best way to solve it is at the root," explained Jonathan Tyler with Cintas Document Management.
If you want to avoid being a victim, the best ways is to totally destroy anything that has your personal information. And by bringing your documents to our Shredder Day event versus using a home shredder, you're guaranteed those pieces of paper are completely unusable by thieves.
"We actually have knives inside of that shredder and it's called 'pierce and tear' so it's torn up to the point it's unrecognizable. On that point you don't have to worry about anyone putting that stuff back together or anyone stealing your identity after it's shredded," said Tyler.
In fact, they don't even open the truck until they get your shredded documents to their next destination.
"Once the trucks leave Channel 4, we take them to a recycling processing plant. It's a huge facility and that's where we take that product and make it into things like toilet paper, towels, construction paper. So it's a green initiative for all consumers," explained Tyler.
There will be three trucks in our front lot on shredder day... Each able to pierce and tear 5,000 pounds of paper per hour. This means that this year, we can get you in and out faster than ever before.
