13-year Army veteran honored with trip to Disney

SFC Jacob Canterbury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Channel 4 and the Law Firm of Farah and Farah teamed up to honor military heroes for the 4th of July and, with the help of our viewers, gave one deserving member of the military a trip for four to Disney World, including tickets to the park and a two-night hotel stay.

After taking nominations from the public, our viewers voted for the winner: SFC Jacob Canterbury.

Canterbury has served in the United States Army for the past 13 years and had seven tours of Afghanistan defending our country. He is currently stationed in Jacksonville as any Army recruiter.

Here's what his wife, Amber, wrote in nominating Canterbury:
"I'm nominating my husband, SFC Jacob Canterbury, as my hero. Though my husband works 15+ hours a day & most weekends, he still finds time to be the best husband and father to our two small children. Having a toddler with serious medical conditions has been a huge challenge for our family, with my husband's work schedule. However, he's a selfless man that never complains about how much he works and what his job description entails. Jacob has been our solid rock and support. There isn't one military person better than the other; I just feel that my husband deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated for all of his hard work and sacrifice that he has given to our country, fighting for our freedom. It would be such a blessing to our family if we received this trip; our children would have an unforgettable time, making memories with their father. Thank you and God bless."
