4 Duval County employees follow Vitti to Detroit

Former Duval County superintendent takes 4 with him to new job

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four former Duval County Public Schools employees left the district to move to Detroit and continue working for Dr. Nikolai Vitti under his new role as superintendent of the Detroit Public Schools Community District.

Per a DPSCD spokesperson, the following three employees from Duval went with Vitti to Detroit, and their positions there are as follows:

  • Iranetta Wright, Department Superintendent of Schools 
  • Elizabeth Cutrona, Senior Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Partnerships
  • Beth Gonzalez, Senior Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction
  • Mark Sherwood, head of communications for DCPS, also followed Vitti to Detroit. His last day was Aug. 11, and his position has been posted online. No interim director has been named. Sherwood's salary was $129,911.08. 

    In Duval County, Wright's last position was Chief of Schools with a salary of $144,500, Cutrona served as Supervisor of Strategic Planning with a salary of $133,500 and Gonzalez's last position in Jacksonville was Executive Director for the School of Instructional Support with a salary of $125,000.

    Vickie Schultz took over as Chief of Schools in Duval County, and a DCPS spokesman said Gonzalez's position will not be filled. Instead, those duties will fall under the responsibility of the chief academic officer.
