Get ready for the back-to-school routine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the summer ends, getting into the back-to-school routine doesn't have to be as difficult as we might expect. Preparing ahead of time can make all the difference.

First, try re-establishing routines a few days before school begins by having your child wake up and eat their meals at the same time each day. Also, prepare activities for them to do at the time when school would be in session.

Next, give your child room to be independent because they'll have to manage a lot on their own at school. Have them practice doing things like writing or getting dressed by themselves.

Also, try setting up a space and time for homework. They'll be able to come home and get their work done on time in a place with no distractions.

Another tip is to be sure to make a sick-day game plan now. Give the school a list of people allowed to pick your child up. You should have at leave three to five people on the list who are willing and able to pick up your child while you are at work.

Going back to school should be an exciting time for everyone so make sure it's stress-free by using some of these tips.
