PAHRUMP, Nev. -- TV officials in Arkansas and Nevada apologized Sunday for major problems that left many football fans with spotty or no reception for Sunday's big game.
Officials in Pahrump, Nev., said that due to circumstances beyond stations' control, there were reception issues in the Pahrump area affecting all Las Vegas television stations.
Station officials said there was nothing they could do to fix the issue and blamed the extreme weather affecting Mount Potosi -- where the translator is located.
Officials said encouraged all Super Bowl fans to find a local venue offering the game via satellite, the same remedy offered in Arkansas, where similar problems left fans without the game in the northwestern corner of the state.
According to the
KSTA-TV Web site in northwest Arkansas, Super Bowl coverage on the Fox affiliate was off the air starting at 3 p.m.
A statement posted to the Web site read: "Due to a technical difficulty, the air signal and some satellite services are not receiving and broadcasting the Super Bowl on Fox."
