Nominations for the Primetime Emmys were announced in L-A Thursday morning.
Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel and Kerry Washington revealed the actors and shows vying for TV's top honors.
FX Network's "American Horror Story" and AMC's "Mad Men" landed the most noms with 17 a piece.
Downton Abbey, from PBS had 16 nods. The shows competing for best drama series are "Boardwalk Empire," ''Breaking Bad," ''Downton Abbey," ''Game of Thrones," ''Homeland" and "Mad Men."
On the comedy side contenders include "The Big Bang Theory," ''Curb Your Enthusiasm," ''Girls," ''Modern Family," ''30 Rock" and "Veep."
The Emmys will be broadcast live on ABC on September 23.
