Lunch with Lincoln Series

  •  Dr. Dan Schafer presents “With Musket and Bayonet: How Blacks in Northeast Florida became Lincoln’s Freedom Fighters” on Friday. This presentation is a part of a brown bag series complementing the nationwide traveling exhibit, “Linlcon: The Constitution and the Civil War.” The exhibit is on display at the main library until Feb. 17. Dr. Schafer is an emeritus of history at the University of North Florida. This event begins at noon and will last until 1. It will be held in the third floor atrium of the Main Library.

Jacksonville Boat Show

  • See tons of boats on display this weekend at the Jacksonville Boat Show. This is the 65th year for this event. There will be skiing, fishing, cruisers and personal watercrafts on display. It will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center beginning Friday. The show ends on Sunday. For more information and hours, go to www.boatjax.com.

Charities Antiques Show and Sale

  • The Pilot Club of Jacksonville hosts its 63rd Annual Charities Antique Show and Sale beginning Friday. It will be held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds. Selected antique dealers from all over the nation will be in town to show and sell their fine antiques. There is a $10 admission charge. The show runs through Sunday.

Jacksonville Giants

  • Jacksonville Giants will take on the Panama City Dream at the University of North Florida arena on Friday. All college and high school students will receive free admission with a school ID. All tickets are $5 at the door For more information and ticket prices, go to www.jacksonvillegiants.com.

Mozart Celebration

  • Celebrate Mozart’s birthday with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra on Friday. You can hear Mozart’s song during a performance at the Times Union Center. The show begins at 11 a.m.  For more information, go to www.jaxsymphony.org,

I’ll Remember You Elvis Tribute Artist Competition

  • Ted Torres, famous nationwide as an Elvis Tribute artist, will be among those performing at the 7th annual Ted “Teddy Mac” McMullen I”ll Remember You Elvis Tribute beginning Friday. It will be held at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak. The competition runs through Sunday. Tennis Tournament

  • The USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament comes to Palm Coast on Friday. It will be held at the tennis center. Qualifying play will run from Friday  to Monday, January 30. Fans are invited to come cheer the players and enjoy professional tennis. Kids Day will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Kids can practice drills with tennis pros, free of charge. National Team Roping Finals

  • Top contenders in the sport of Team Roping will be in Jacksonville this weekend. The national team Roping Finals will be held  at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. This is a free event and parking is free.

Spiders

  • Join a park ranger to learn more about spiders during a presentation at the Fort George Island Cultural State Park on Saturday. This program, which begans at 2 p.m. , will take place at the Ribault Club. This program is free and no reservations are necessary.
