“Carrie”

The Hippodrome Theatre will have you screaming with laughter during the new show “Carrie.” It is comedy based on Stephen King’s first published and best-selling novel. It is the story of a girl who is bullied at school, isolated at home by her mother and goes through the worst prom ever. Carrie opens on October 13^th and runs through November 4^th. Show times are Tuesday and Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Thursday and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 5p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 352-375-4477 or www.thehipp.org. There is an advisory for this show. It is for mature audiences and there will be blood.

Hungry Howie’s and Breast Cancer Awareness

Hungry Howie’s is taking action to support breast cancer awareness. Throughout the month of October, all large pizzas will be served in bright pink boxes and for every large pizza; Hungry Howie’s will make a donation to the National Breast Cancer foundation. An additional $1 will be donated to the Foundations when customers purchase a Love, Hope and Pizza wristband, become a new fan on Hungry Howie’s facebook page, share a breast cancer story on the Facebook page and for every tweet using the hashtag #lovehopepizza.

New Exhibit at Beach Museum
The Beaches Museum and History Park will host “Lifeguard on Duty: Celebrating 100 years of the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps in Jacksonville Beach.” The exhibit opened on September 4th. It features historical photographs and artifacts showing the work providing by the corps to Jacksonville Beach. Admission is $5 for general admission, free to museum members. Grief and Loss Support Group
Haven Hospice is hosting a grief and loss support every Tuesday beginning September 18. It will be held at its St. Augustine office on Southpark Boulevard in St. Augustine. The group meets at 10:30 a.m. to noon. This group will meet through October 23.

Free Professional Career Counseling

Military veterans can take advantage of free military counseling starting September 20th. This free service will be available on the third Thursday of each month at City Hall. Veterans can learn more about resume help, interview preparation, and post-military career. It begins at 3 p.m. and goes until 6p.m.
