Local families can make sure their child is safe inside the vehicle during “Seat Check Saturday.”

This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn about properly installing safety seats in vehicles.

It will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 at George Moore Chevrolet  on Atlantic Boulevard beginning at 10 a.m. and last until noon.

Certified child passenger safety technicians from Safe Kids will be on hand to provide hands-on car and booster seat installation instructions, as well as information about when it is time for a child to move up to the next size seat.

“Children of all ages depend on parents and caregivers to provide a safe means of transportation,” said Cynthia Dennis, RN, coordinator of Safe Kids Northeast Florida. “We are urging everyone to have their child checked to be sure that they are using the proper restraint, whether a car seat, booster seat or seat belt. When it comes to the safety of a child, there is no room for error.”

Seat Check Saturday is part of Child Passenger Safety Week, which begins on September 16-22.
