Concerts in the Plaza

Homeschooling Conference and Curriculum Convention
If you are interested in learning more about homeschooling, you can do so this weekend. The HERI Homeschool Leadership Conference will begin on Thursday and run through Saturday. You can learn more about the curriculum, games and books. It will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

Free Family Movie Days
Trinity Baptist Church will host a free Family Movie Day for kids and families this summer. Thursday’s movie will be “Despicable Me.” It begins at the 10 a.m. in the E Theatre at 880 Hammond Boulevard.

Best of St. Augustine
The St. Augustine Record and Staugustine.com will celebrate the Best of St. Augustine contest. On Thursday, It will be held a kickoff party at the St. Augustine Record beginning at 5 p.m.. Twenty-five businesses will be on hand to convince you to vote for them. You can also enjoy free food samples and live music. This year’s contest is available online at www.staugustine.com.

Film Series at Ponte Vedra Hall

WJCT’s Electro Lounge will continue its four week Friday night film series this week. This week’s movie is “All the President’s Men” starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and movie starts an hour later. A $5 admission fee will be collected at the door. The St. Johns County Board of Elections will also be on site to help people with voter registration.


Free Samples at Pollo Tropical
Pollo Tropical is giving away free samples of Cheezy Yuca Bites from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Friday. Cheezy Yuca Bites is a bite-sized pieces of yuca filled with cheese. All you have to say is "Ahhhh for Cheezy Yuca Bites."

Children’s Way 5K after Dar

Lace up your shoes to help the Ronald McDonald House this Saturday. The Children’s Way 5K after Dark will begin at 7 p.m. at the Hurricane Grill and Wings in San Marco on Hendricks Avenue. Runners will get a free sport tech shirt. There will also be free food, drinks and entertainment at the post race celebration at the restaurant. Super Duper Mini Chefs

Pint-sized food lovers can have food with fun on Saturday. Orange Park Mall and The Avenues Mall are inviting children of all ages to become a chef for a day at the Super Duper Mini Chefs Event. It will begin at 1 p.m. at the Orange Park Mall. It will begin at Noon at the Avenues Mall In addition to having fun with food, kids can enjoy games. You are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local food bank. Kidgits Club Members will receive a free Kidgits plate (while supplies last).

Second Saturday Artageous Artwalk
See the latest artwork and other creative ideas during the Artageous Artwalk in Downtown Fernandina Beach on Saturday. Every second Saturday, a number of galleries open up their doors to show off the latest work. It will begin at 5:30 and last until 8:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.ameliaisland.com.

Free Kids’ Fishing Clinic
Kids can learn more about fishing during a free kids fishing clinic on Saturday in Palm Coast. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will offer this for kids age 5 through 15. It will be held at Bing’s Landing Country Park on Northshore Boulevard beginning at 9 a.m. Advance registration is not required. Kids will learn the stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills and safety. Fishing equipment and bait will be provided to kids during the clinic, but you can also bring your own.


Jacksonville Sharks vs. Orlando Predators
You can enjoy football during the summer. The Jacksonville Sharks will take on the Orlando Predators Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Arena beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday is Fan Appreciation/Redneck Night. Before the game, the Sharks will host a blood drive beginning at 4 p.m


Car Audio Competition
You can help the City Rescue Mission during a car audio competition on Saturday. It will be held at the Johnson’s Family Flea and Farmers Market beginning at 1 p.m.

Film Project "Best of " Screening
The PRI Productions Jacksonville 48 Hour Film Project "best of" Screening will be held on Saturday at the Florida Theatre. It will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are both $10 for both students and adults. All films that won awards will be screened.

Sunday

Summer Movie Classic
The Florida Theatre will continue its Summer Movie Series with “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” You can see the movie featuring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are 7.50 each or $45 for a movie card which will get you ten admissions. Grief and Support Loss Support Group

Haven Hospice is hosting a grief and loss support group on Monday. This support group is for parents and caregivers who have lost a child. It will be held at the Haven Office at 200 Southpark Boulevard in St. Augustine beginning at 6 p.m.
