Jacksonville Children’s Chorus Alumni Serenade
The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus will hold its first concert of the season. An Alumni Serenade concert will be held on Thursday at Friday Musicale on Oak Street. Friday Night Live! At the Landing

Music in the Courtyard

Murray Hill Theatre Festival
One of Jacksonville’s longest running live music venues is commemorating 17 years of operation by holding a 2-day festival. Some of Christian rock’s biggest names will be performing at Murray Hill Theatre. Groups like Disciple, Bleach and several local bands. The festival begins Friday and runs through Saturday. Slide-A-Thon
Adventure Landing is hosting a 24 hour “Slide-A-Thon” this weekend. It begins Friday at 6 p.m. at Adventure Landing’s Shipwreck Island in Jacksonville Beach. There will be more than 90 contestants competing in this competition. Most of the proceeds will benefit Wolfson Children’s hospital. Tickets are $10 per contestant.

Saturday:
Fight for Air Run Walk

Get ready to rock out and run/walk to retro music and help those who suffer from asthma during the Fight for Air Run Walk on Saturday. It will be held at Metropolitan Park beginning at 8 a.m. This event is sponsored by the American Lung Association. It will cost $30 until August 17th, $40 on event day. Back To School Clothes Give-A-Way
Jacksonville Local Organizing Committee of Millions More Movement will host a “Give-A-Way Clothes” event on Saturday. It will be held at 916 N. Myrtle Avenue between Kings Road and Beaver Street. Fashion Show
The Tiphne Dar’Shay Hollis Foundation will host a benefit fashion show on Saturday. Hollis was killed in March of 2010. Her killer remains at large. The fashion show will be held at the Hyatt Riverwalk Hotel beginning at 5 p.m. Proceeds will fund the foundation and its community outreach programs. Tomato Battle
The Tomato Battle is coming to Florida. It will be held Saturday at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center on Normandy Boulevard. Registration begins at Noon and the festivities go until 6 p.m.

Secrets of the Salt Marsh
Join a park ranger and discover the importance of estuarine systems around the Fort George Island Cultural State Park. This ranger-guided hike will begin at 2 p.m. at the Ribault Club. No reservation is necessary and the program is free.

End of the Summer Bash
Enjoy live music and entertainment at the Jacksonville Landing this weekend. The End of the summer Bash features more than 70 singers from all over the nation. Nutcracker Auditions
Saint Augustine Ballet will be holding auditions on Saturday for The Nutcracker. It will be held at Abella’s Studio on Lakeside Avenue. Dancers age 8 and up who are currently studying ballet are invited to audition. Dancers must commit to a weekly rehearsal schedule. Dancer must wear proper attire, bring a headshot and there is a non-refundable $25 audition free. The Nutcracker will be performing in December. Back2School Beach Fest
Enjoy the 2nd annual Back2School Beach Fest at St. Augustine Beach and St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday. Shadco Safety Fair
The 15th annual Avenues Shadco Safety Fair will be held Saturday at the Avenues Mall beginning at 10 a.m. More than 60 safety awareness exhibits, information displays and demonstrations will be on hand. Safe Kids Northeast Florida will be conducting child seat inspections. The event will be held inside the mall and in the parking garage. This is a free event sponsored by the sheriff's office, the sheriff's advisory council, and community traffic safety team.

Summer Movie Classic
The Florida Theatre will continue its Summer Movie Series with "Carousel." The musical features Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones and Cameron Mitchell. “Rounds at the Grounds”
Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition will host its third annual “Rounds at the Grounds” on Sunday. Nearly 20 doctors from local hospitals and offices will step up to the plate for a 75-minute softball game. It will be held at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville beginning at 4 p.m. Those who attend can also take part in a mini-back to school health fair. There will be free immunizations (parents must accompany children and bring shot records), information about school lunches, and more.

My Wedding, My Style... Finding Your Wedding Design Inspiration
