Livestock Sales
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sale of impounded livestock on Thursday. The sale will include an Arabian Quarter Horse. It will take place at State Road 16 West in Green Cove Springs beginning at 10 a.m. A driver’s license is required to be part of the sale.

The runway show will feature fall and winter looks for retailers like Dillard’s Bare Escentuals and Sunglass Hut. Participating retailers will offer in-store activities and surprises. This event is free and open to the public.

Concert Series
Edward Waters College will open up its concert series Thursday with a recital performed by pianist Chia-Ching Shen. Shen is a native of Taiwan and she is recipient of numerous awards for her performances at competitions.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Milne Auditorium. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Friday:
The Great Outdoors Event
Be the first to see the latest boat models, RVs and Gear at the Great Outdoors event beginning Friday. It will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Organizers say it is three shows under one roof. Meet Ashley and Chris from Animal Planet’s “Gator Boys’ on Saturday. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 and children under the age of 16 free. Comedy for the Cure
Get ready to laugh and help a local cause. Comedy for the Cure will be held Friday at Latitude 30. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Komen North Florida. Johnny Mac will be the headliner. 5th Quarter
Fifth Quarter, an outreach event that provides a safe environment for Fleming Island High School students after the home game, will be held on Friday. It is free to students in 8th through 12th grades at Fleming Island Presbyterian Church. There is free food, games, and attractions. 5th Quarter begins at 9:30 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m.

Blood Drive

Stellers Gallery at Ponte Vedra
Stellers Gallery at Ponte Vedra will show the work of painters Jennifer J.L. Jones and Enrique Mora during an upcoming new exhibit. Founder’s Day 2012
The original headboard from the casket of the Founder of St. Augustine will be formally returned to the Mission Nombre de Dios on Saturday. This is part of the 447th anniversary celebration of St. Augustine. The Founder’s Day event will begins at 10 a.m. with a historical reenactment of Pedro Menendez’s landing. The restored headboard will be carried in procession after the reenactment of the landing. The procession will pause at the Prince of Peace Votive Church on the mission grounds for a talk by Dr. Timothy Johnson of Flagler College. The headboard will then be placed in the Mission Nombre de de Dios Museum for a permanent exhibit. The event is open to the public and free.

Wounded Warrior Project 8K Run
Run of walk to honor our nation’s Wounded Warriors. The 8K run will be held at the Jacksonville Landing on Saturday. Registration is $35 through September 8th. $15 for military and 1K fun run. The run begins at 8 a.m. For more information, go to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Bark for Life
You can help save lives during the Bark for Life on Saturday. It will be held at the Central Park in Fernandina Beach. Bark for Life is a non-competitive walk event for dos and their owners. Money is raised for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Fernandina Beach\Yulee and the homeless animals at Nassau Humane Society adoption center. The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. The walk begins 15 minutes later. Pre-registration fee is $20 per dog; late registration is $25 per dog.
