Channel 4 prime-time broadcast captures 4th of July fun

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4Jax invites you and your family to join Mary Baer, Kent Justice, Nikki Kimbleton, Rebecca Barry and the Channel 4 news team on Saturday night for complete, prime-time coverage Fourth of July festivities and fireworks across northeast Florida, plus the finals of the "Oh Say Can You Sing" contest.

The broadcast originates from River City Brewing Company and begins at 8 p.m.

Over the last two months, three singers are still in competition to win a $500 cash prize and and to sing the national anthem just before the city of Jacksonville's fireworks display over the St. Johns River.

Our viewers get to pick the winner, and everyone who votes has a chance to win a $50 gasoline gift card.

The youngest singer contestant is Cassidy. She's 15 years old, taking driver's ed this summer, and was a also a semi-finalist last year. The oldest singer oldest -- age 41 -- is Eric, who sang at the Jacksonville Landing tree lighting ceremony in December. Chara almost didn't audition. Her friends kept on prodding her to try out, but wasn't going to go because she had to work. Her boss covered her shift so she could audition.
