JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville rolled out the red carpet for music royalty Saturday as Sir Elton John took the stage at the Veterans Memorial Arena.
The stop in the River City was one of only 12 in North America for John's All The Hits Tour.
Fans came from all over the state, including Orlando, where he just played another show a week earlier.
"It's actually my 24th time seeing Elton in concert," said Bill Hogan, a fan from Orlando. "I grew up with his music. My dad's been a big fan so I've been brought up with Elton John's music and we've seen him since I was a little kid."
News4Jax had backstage access to the show, even catching a glimpse of John riding past our crew before he took the stage.
John opened the show with "Funeral For a Friend," a song off the hit record "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." That was followed by a performance of "Bennie and the Jets," which saw John standing up at the piano to get the crowd even more excited.
Following Saturday's concert, John is on his way to Las Vegas, where he'll play a series of shows at Caesar's Palace. The All The Hits Tour wraps up in New Orleans on May 2.
