JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One of the biggest concert weekends of the year in Jacksonville could be one of the last events at Metropolitan Park. Welcome to Rockville 2017 took over Metropolitan Park Saturday with a mix of hard rock and modern metal bands.

With the new amphitheater, Daily’s Place, opening later this year just yards away, Metropolitan Park’s future remains unclear.

It's a decision that the city and event officials have been working on for the last three years.

In December, officials said they would work with event promoters and organizers who use the park and make sure it's still a destination for concerts and other events.

The city is currently paying 50 percent of the cost of the Daily's Place amphitheater adjoining the south end zone of EverBank Field.

Many promoters and event groups would like to remain at Metropolitan Park, saying the feel of the amphitheater and the park are completely different.

In the meantime, several other events like the boat show and the Oyster Jam are still set to take place at Metropolitan Park in May.

There's no word on whether the events that have been taking place here for years will be moving to Daily’s Place.
