A promotion by Oprah Winfrey of KFC's new grilled chicken caused some restaurants to run out of the grilled birds, but rumors of riots were exaggerated.

"Some customers were upset because they couldn't get their chicken, but there was no riot," a KFC spokesperson told the Associated Press after reports of a scuffle at one New York City KFC outlet appeared on the Internet.
