JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Each year, the first babies born in the New Year are celebrated at hospitals throughout the nation, and Northeast Florida is no exception.
What appears to be the first baby of 2016 in Jacksonville was Cooper Lee Gotto, who was born at St. Vincent's Southside at 12:11 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds and 20 inches long. His mother, Kelly, was doing fine.

News4Jax was told Cooper was three weeks premature.
Eight minutes later, Grayson Thomas Buckley was delivered at Baptist Medical Center South, weighing 8 pounds, 1.3 ounces.
Mother, Amy Buckley, and baby are both doing well.
A friend of the family gave Grayson a customized Jaguars toddler jersey, which father Sean Buckley said will be put to good use.
"Maybe not next season, but definitely the season after he'll definitely have season tickets in his name," the proud father said. "We're just really happy that he's here and I think it's honestly the best way to start off the new year."
