Jeff Crammond from Ponte Vedra Beach won the blue ribbon from the Best Bite-Size Treat competition at the Greater Jacksonville Fair.
Karo Syrup "Sweet-Treats for Sweet-Hearts" Contest's Chocolate Peanut Butter Wow Them Bars
1 cup Karo Light Corn Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups rice Krispie cereal
2 cups dark chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts
In a large glass bowl, combine the Karo light corn syrup and sugar. Cook in a microwave oven on high for 2 minutes. The mixture should come to a full boil. Remove and stir in the peanut butter and then the cereal.
Spread the mixture into a 9x13-inch pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Melt the chocolate chips in a medium size glass bowl in a microwave oven at 50 percent power for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove and stir until the chips are melted. Spread the chocolate mixture over the bars and sprinkle them with the chopped peanuts.
Yields: 2 dozen bars.
