If you work a nine-to-five job, you know how hard it can be to schedule a doctor's appointment, especially MRI's.
Now, a local hospital is offering MRI's at night -- every day of the week.
It's the first program of its kind in the Jacksonville area.
Because not everybody can take a day off to visit the doctor, for those patients who need an MRI, Baptist hospital can work around your schedule.
"There are some patients who work different shifts, and we will do what we can to accommodate those patients," Dr. John McKenzie said.
The new hours mean they're open and ready to serve patients almost 24/7. The imaging center closes for four hours each evening but opens up again at 11 p.m. and stays open until the morning shift begins.
The exam takes about 40 to 45 minutes, and in the middle of the night there's no wait.
"It's picking up, and we're very positive about the numbers," McKenzie said, "and we think it's going to be a very positive impact for the community."
The hospital has even thought about safety. In the parking garage there's a dedicated space for MRI patients.
As for the first one in the lot, new lights were just installed to light your path, and a guard will greet you at the door. If that's not enough they're taking customer service to a new level.
"We'll meet you at your car, escort you though the building to the MRI center and escort you back," McKenzie said.
These new hours are especially good for the younger patients. During the procedure you can't move and you're also stuck in a narrow tube, alone.
The hospital offers sedation, but at night your children might fall asleep.
The MRI center was also just recently updated with new high tech equipment. Dr. McKenzie said it's helping them do their jobs better.
"We get better pictures, and higher resolutions allows us to make better and more confident diagnoses," McKenzie said.
