Updated County-By-County Flu Vaccines

As vaccines for the H1N1 flu are just becoming available, the Centers for Disease Control has set priorities for the first people to receive the nasal mist or shots:

  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
  • People ages of 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems

Here is the availability of H1N1 flu vaccines around northeast Florida:

Duval County

Currently has limited quantities of H1N1 vaccine, and are only vaccinating those who meet the CDC guidelines. Duval just had its 13th death related to the virus on Oct 24, 2009.
    Duval County Health Department immunization center, 5220 Pearl Street
      Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m.
    Wesconnectt Family Health Center, 5150-9 Timuquana Road, Jacksonville
      Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other Jacksonville vaccination locations not related to DCHD are Solantic and Walgreen's.

Duval County Public Schools have no plans of offering the vaccinations in the schools.

Wolfson Children's hospital now has a new policy: Wolfson Children’s Hospital will no longer allow non-patient visitors or family members under the age of 18 years to visit patients in the hospital. This policy will remain in effect until further notice. Parents/legal guardians, grandparents or a designated parent substitute, such as a close family friend or adult sibling, may visit patients. If the parents are under 18, they will be allowed to visit their child.

St Johns County

St Johns has two deaths from the H1N1 flu. To date, the county health department has received 33,500 doses of vaccine. Additional allotments are expected in the coming weeks.

Vaccination schedule for the week of Dec. 28 at the clinic, 1955 U.S. 1 South, St Augustine ( 904-825-5055):
  • 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday
    Closed Friday for holiday.

The St Johns County Health Department will be offering seasonal and H1N1 vaccines for students only on the schedule listed below. Parents must be present to provide authorization and the vaccine will be administered "first-come first-served" as available at the schools.
    Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 12/5/09 -- Bartram Trail HS

  • 12/12/09 -- Sebastian MS

Clay County

Clay County elementary schools have already immunized students with permission slips. Clay County Health Department will be providing H1N1 vaccinations free of charge from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at the Ed Stansel Clinic, 1345 Idlewild Ave., Green Cove Springs.

Nassau County

The Nassau County Health Department has no clinics scheduled at the present time.

Baker County

The Baker County Health Department has the H1N1 vaccines at its offices, 480 W Lowder St in Macclenny. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tues from 5 to 7 p.m. The clinic is for priority groups only. Baker County residents can call 904-259-6291 for an appointment.

Putnam County

Clinics are held at 2801 Kennedy St in Palatka

    Saturday, Dec. 5 - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Second Dose (from November 14) of Vaccine for Daycares and Private Schools; and Young Adults (Colleges and Universities - Young Adults up to 24 years of age) ONLY

    Saturday, Dec. 12 - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    Mass Vaccination - Open for all

Call 386-326-3200 ext. 3254 for information. The county recorded its first H1N1 death of a 47-year-old man on Nov. 5.

Columbia County

Clinics are scheduled for H1N1 vaccine at the Columbia County Health Department, 217 NE Franklin St., Lake City
  • Dec 2, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Dec 3, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Dec 9, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Dec 10, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Dec 12, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

  • Dec 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

University of Florida

The University of Florida will be administering 1,400 more flu vaccines beginning Thursday, Nov. 19. The university administered 800 on Nov. 4. Students must register online at http://shcc.ufl.edu/h1n1/ and select a time slot to receive the vaccine. Student Health Care Center's Infirmary building
    Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
