Cut 500 fast food calories

How many calories do you think is in the average fast food meal? According to a Harvard study, a quarter of people surveyed were off by 500 calories. The study found the average meal at a fast food restaurant is 836 calories. It may not be ideal, but if you order right, your fast food doesn't have to put you on the fast track to gaining weight.

Meals less than 500 calories at Wendy's include the ultimate chicken grill sandwich with a mandarin orange cup and medium iced tea: 480 calories, seven grams of fat. But don't order the chicken spicy, that adds an extra 9.5 grams of fat.

You can even eat under 500 calories at KFC.  Three crispy strips, with green beans and a three inch corn on the cob and medium Diet Pepsi is 475 calories, 22.5 grams of fat. And get this, the beans are a good source of vitamins K, A, and C. All help in reducing cancer-causing free radicals.

At McDonalds, the premium grilled chicken classic sandwich with a side salad with Newman's own low fat balsamic vinaigrette and a medium iced tea also comes in at 480 calories. That's the same calorie count as a quarter pounder, but it doesn't have trans-fat the burger does.
