Perk up your workout

Swimsuit and short season is here and it's time to get up and motivated to move, and work off some of those extra winter pounds. Whatever your workout of choice, sometimes it can fall a little flat. But there are some simple things you can do to get it feeling fresh again.

First, get a new playlist. A study from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse found listening to upbeat music can reduce the perception you're exercising and can increase your endurance by 15 percent.

Another piece of advice: start doing it outside. Those who exercise regularly outside report feeling less stressed and more likely to exercise again.

Try finding a buddy. According to Men's Health magazine, exercising with a partner means you'll be less likely to miss a workout. It also helps with motivation and perseverance.

Men's Health magazine also recommends sharing your progress with your friends. Once you're known as the workout freak, it can provide you with an incentive and motivation to keep it up.
