Nationals Finalize Coaching Staff
Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Nationals have finalized their coaching staff for Jim Riggleman, who was officially named manager last Thursday after serving in an interim role for the second half of this past season. The personnel the club retained are hitting coach Rick Eckstein, pitching coach Steve McCatty and third-base coach Pat Listach. Additionally, the Nationals named former Mariners manager John McLaren as bench coach, Jim Lett as bullpen coach and Dan Radison as first-base. McLaren served as Seattle's manager for parts of the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He took over managing duties for the Mariners in July 2007 after Mike Hargrove resigned, then was fired in June 2008 after Seattle got off to a 25-47 start. Riggleman was McLaren's bench coach at the time and finished out the 2008 season as Seattle manager. Lett has 15 seasons of major league coaching experience, including 11 as bench coach for Cincinnati. From 2001-04 he was the bullpen coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he worked with Riggleman on the staff of then-Dodgers manager Jim Tracy. Radison worked with Riggleman during Riggleman's managing stints with San Diego and the Chicago Cubs.
