Forbes: Jaguars worth $1.48 billion

Jacksonville 27th on Forbes' NFL team value rankings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars ranked 27th in Forbes' latest list of NFL team values.

The values are calculated by measuring a team's net worth against its net debt.

According to Forbes Magazine, the Jaguars are worth $1.48 billion. Jaguars owner Shad Khan paid $770 million when he bought the team in 2011, meaning he's nearly doubled his investment since then.

The Jaguars' worth ranks them ahead of the:

  • St. Louis Rams -- $1.45 billion
  • Cincinnati Bengals -- $1.445 billion
  • Detroit Lions -- $1.44 billion
  • Oakland Raiders -- $1.43 billion
  • Buffalo Bills -- $1.4 billion

This is the 18th year Forbes has put together its list of NFL teams' values.

Forbes' most valuable team was the Dallas Cowboys, which are worth $4 billion. The New England Patriots ($3.2 billion), Washington Redskins ($2.85 billion), New York Giants ($2.8 billion) and San Francisco 49ers ($2.7 billion) round out the top five.

The most valuable division rival for the Jaguars was the Houston Texans, which are worth $2.5 billion and ranked seventh on the list. The Indianapolis Colts ($1.88 billion) ranked 14th and Tennessee Titans ($1.49 billion) ranked 26th.

The Miami Dolphins ranked 16th on the list at $1.85 billion, the Atlanta Falcons were 17th at $1.67 billion and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were 24th at $1.51 billion.
