JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Never one to miss an opportunity to talk about jobs, Gov. Rick Scott brought his Jobs for the Next Generation tour to Jacksonville on Monday afternoon.
Scott stopped at CoWork Jax downtown to describe new policies he says will make Florida the nation's leader in growing, emerging industries with good-paying jobs.
His plan includes:

- Permanently eliminating the sales tax on manufacturing equipment.
- Rewarding science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) teachers with paid summer residencies at private-sector companies.
- $30 million investment in new workforce training initiatives focused on STEM jobs and providing $10,000 STEM college degrees.
- Making Florida a hub for innovative cancer research and a world-class destination for treatment
"Our future is going to be science, engineering and math. It's exciting to be here at CoWork Jax to see all the excitement and growth here," Scott said.
Elton Rivas, co-founder of CoWork Jax, a shared workspace for entrepreneurs on Forsyth Street, says Florida created 36,900 private-sector jobs in June -- the most of any state in America.
"We need to continue this progress and be the example of economic recovery for the rest of the nation," Rivas said.
