Rodent droppings and roaches in a refrigerator temporarily shut down two restaurants

Restaurant Report Card

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Parson's Seafood Restaurant is on 6th Avenue in Jacksonville Beach. Last week the inspector was following up on a complaint and found rodent droppings.  50 dry droppings were found under the preparation table in the kitchen and more were found by the front door in the dining room.   There were also four moist dropping in the same area which indicates the droppings were more recent.  This was one of five inspectors that had been done since the end of July at Parson's Seafood.  The restaurant passed it's latest inspection and opened back up the next day when the inspector only found one high priority violation that did not have to do with pests.

Ibex Ethiopian Kitchen on Baymeadows was also closed for the day.  This time live roaches were found scurrying around the kitchen.  Five live roaches were spotted inside a plastic container near the freezer, 15 were  in the freezer vent cover and 25 more under a storage shelf in the same area. There were also dozens of dead reaches caught inside a trap device in the same area that the live ones were found.

The inspector did come back later that second day and was convinced the roach problem was under control.  This time there were actually no violations and Ibex Ethiopian Kitchen was allowed to open back up.
