Ky. Man Hosts Popular 2012 Disaster Site

John Kehne Claims World Will Go Through 'Significant Change'

POSTED: Sunday, November 15, 2009
UPDATED: 9:05 pm EST November 15, 2009

As historians, scientists and the religious community debate whether the world is heading to catastrophe in the year 2012, a Kentucky man said he has the answers, WLKY-TV in Louisville, Ky., reported.

The 2012 catastrophe rumors are being fueled by Hollywood. The "2012" movie starring John Cusack and Dannie Glover debuted this weekend and claimed the top spot at the box office.

It's not the only hit around. John Kehne, of Bullitt County, has a 2012 Web site that drew in more than 9 million page views on Sunday, according to Kehne.

Kehne is a self-taught research who said that he doesn't know if the world will end, but that there is evidence that the world will go through a significant change by Dec. 21, 2012.

"I don't think that we're looking at the end of the world. I think we're just looking at a change that is going to take place," Kehne said.

The Brooks resident said he's been studying the possibility for more than a decade. It all began when he read a children's book based on a Mayan calendar.

"It had mentioned that the world was to come to an end in December of 2012, and that's where it all started from there," Kehne said.

Kehne cites increased natural disasters that strike with more intensity as proof of his claims.

"They will continue to do so as we get closer to 2012. And I think those disasters are going to lead to economic problems and social problems and it's going to be a domino effect," Kehne said.

He also said that a looming cosmic event is proof the "prophecy" will come true. Kehne claims that the Earth, planets and sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy in a so-called "galactic alignment."

Kehne also said that the earth's balance will shift that the sun will produce flares of increasing intensity that year.

"NASA has confirmed that there's going to be intense solar activity that year that we will have intense solar flares coming off the sun, and those could potentially take out satellites," Kehne said.

However, while NASA scientists confirmed the possibility of the activity, they dismissed the claim that the occurrences will happen all on the same day. The experts said that people such as Kehne are taking their research out of context.

Kehne disagrees with that sentiment and said the recent disasters on Earth should be proof enough.

"What's more important is that they're happening in places that they never happened before," Kehne said. "I just think it all plays into the gathering storm that we're now seeing."

Kehne said these disasters are cyclical. He said it happened in biblical times with Noah and with the dinosaurs.

The "2012" movie took in a total of $225 million in sales by Sunday.
