The Lake City Police Department in partnership with concerned citizens of the community are offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the people who shot and killed Rajni Patel and robbed the A&M Discount Beverage last Friday.
Two black men walked into the store in the 300 block of Southeast Duval Street about 1:30 p.m. Friday, and one man robbed the store clerk of an undisclosed amount of cash, while the other shot and killed 55-year-old Patel, the store owner, according to police.
The men then fled the scene on foot in an eastward direction, police said.
The man who robbed the store is described as a young black man, dark skinned, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has short hair and at the time of the robbery was wearing a gray T-shirt and blue jeans.
The man who shot and killed Patel is described as a black man in his mid-30s, light-skinned and weighing about 230-250 pounds. At the time of the robbery and shooting, he was wearing a straw hat with a white baggie T-shirt and light colored blue jeans. He was also wearing a white piece of tape across his nose and a white bandage on the left side of his neck.
Additionally, he may walk with a limp, police said.
The Lake City Police Department Investigations Division said it's following up on tips received concerning the killing.
Citizens in the community have posted the reward of $10,000.
