For 108 years, their goal has been to help Jacksonville's homeless population and low income families.
Sunday, the Clara White Mission kicked off its annual 'Feed the City' dinner with an outdoor dining room. The event also helped kick-off the mission's food drive for the homeless and low income families for Thanksgiving.
"People need help. People are living pay check to paycheck. People are facing foreclosure. People are proud and don't want to come to an event like this. The mission is here if you need it. And we want to thank everyone in the community for coming out," said JuCoby Pittman C.E.O and President of the Clara White Mission.
More than 200 volunteers helped in the Feed the City program.
The mission is now accepting donations at its location on the corner of Broad and Ashley Street.
Local Mission 'Feeds The City'
The Clara White Mission held it's 17th annual 'Feed The City' luncheon in Jacksonville Sunday. The luncheon kicks off the annual food drive for the homeless and low-income families for Thanksgiving. The Mission is asking for the help of businesses, community members and schools to participate by sponsoring a food drive or pledging a contribution for Thanksgiving.
