COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -

Deputies in Columbia County have arrested one man and are looking for two others in connection with a home invasion robbery early Sunday.

Deputies said a woman was awoken in her home on Northwest Jupiter Court at about 4 a.m. by an armed gunman. Investigators said two others armed with knives and baseball bats accompanied the gunman.

The men stole electronic items from the home and fled the area, deputies said.

Deputies said they were able to identify one of the suspects, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, they arrested 32-year-old Melvin West, of Fort White.

Deputies believe that a pellet-type rifle was used in the robbery, but it has not been recovered.

West, who's charged with home invasion robbery and grand theft, was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility with bail set at $55,000.

Deputies said additional arrests are likely as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information about the home invasion robbery is asked to call the Columbia County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
