JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man died Tuesday after the car he was driving hit a tree outside a house on Columbus Avenue on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The driver, 20-year-old Barnard D. Fambro, lost control of his car on Columbus Avenue near Prospect Street, hit the tree and stopped just short of a house, police said.

Fambro, who lived on Prospect Street, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died.
A woman who was a passenger in the car suffered minor injuries and was also taken to UF Health by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, police said.
JSO said speed was a factor in the crash but there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
The road was closed for the investigation until about 12:45 p.m.
Neighbors told News4Jax they heard the crash but didn't see it.
