1 killed, 1 seriously injured in chain reaction crash

UNION COUNTY, Fla. – A 37-year-old man was killed Monday after in a multiple-vehicle crash at State Road 121.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the victim, who has not yet been identified, was driving a tractor trailer south on SR 121, and did not see traffic ahead of him was stopped.

Troopers said the man struck the back of a Mack truck, driven by Charlie Clemons, 70, which caused a chain reaction crash.

Clemons collided into a Ford Ranger, driven by Harold Spillane, which hit the back of a Nissan Sentra, driven by Lilly M. Busch, 69, which struck the back of a Grand Caravan, driven by Amy O. Davis, 45.

The driver of the tractor trailer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Clemons suffered serious injures. He was taken to Shands Hospital. He had a passenger in his vehicle, Gary L. Williams, 32, who suffered minor injures.

Spillane, Busch and Davis suffered minor injuries.
