1 person dead in overturned car found in St. Johns River

Officials uncertain how long car was in location

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A person was found dead Saturday morning in an overturned car at the edge of the St. Johns River, St. Johns County Fire Rescue said.

The front of 29-year-old Micheal Farrell's car failed to stop and struck several trees causing his car to overturn and ejecting him, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

When crews arrived on the scene, Farrell was found dead, trapped underneath his car, officials said.

At around 9 a.m., a passerby called 911 to report a car they saw flipped over on its roof in shallow water near the intersection of County Road 203 and County Road 13N, officials said. The car was nearly 40 yards from the road.

Fire rescue crews said they don’t know how long Farrell's car was in the location.

There were no other injuries reported.
