Two cars collided on Southside Connector north of Regency Square early Sunday morning, sending one person to the hospital with critical injures, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say one of the drivers failed to see the other vehicle, and the impact sent one of the cars down an embankment.

Clarence Thacker, 58, of Jacksonville, was ejected from the car and was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with critical injuries.

The FHP is investigating the crash and the initial accident report says charges are pending.
