Victims of St. Augustine house fire identified

St. Augustine fire chief says downtown house was vacant, had no power

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Investigators said the woman who died and a second woman badly burned in the house fire in the historic district on Saturday evening were homeless.

St. Augustine police said Wednesday that Bobbi Lynn Provan remains at UF Shands in Gainesville. On Thursday the medical examiner identified the victim who died in the fire as 49-year-old Donna Lee Solt.

Fire rescue crews said after containing the flames at the house on St. Francis Street, they found the two victims inside -- one already dead. CPR was performed on Provan until she could be airlifted to Gainesville.

Initially they reported that the person who died was a man

St. Augustine's fire chief told News4Jax the house was vacant and had no power. He believes the victims might have started a fire to stay warm, and that could have spread to the rest of the house.

Police ask anyone with any information about the fire to call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 or the St. Augustine Police Department at 904-825-1070.
