JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An 18-year-old who said he is also Randall Piercy's son is speaking out about the man accused of keeping a 9-year-old locked inside a bedroom for years.
"Everything they're saying about him is true," Jacob Piercy told Channel 4's Jennifer Bauer. "He controlled every aspect of everybody who ever lived in that house, and if someone tells you differently, they're lying."
Randall Piercy was arrested Wednesday night and charged with aggravated child abuse after police found his youngest son in what they described as a virtual prison. Investigators said he didn't go to school, didn't get medical attention and wasn't allowed to have friends and video cameras in almost every room to monitored his actions.
Piercy and his wife, Michelle, claim the boy was hyperactive and they kept him confined for his own safety.
Jacob Piercy said it's about time someone stopped his father.
"I thought he should get what he deserves because he did it to me," Jacob Piercy said. "I actually ran away from home because of the abuse and what was going on."
Jacob said he lived with Piercy in the family's home for three years, and calls them the worst years of his life.
"I was only allowed to eat at certain times. I wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom without his permission. I wasn't allowed to do anything outside the home," Jacob said. "We had a monitor system through the whole house and anytime I wanted to do anything like go to the bathroom or get a drink, I had to page him and ask him 'yes or no?'"
Investigators said it's that behavior that landed Randall Piercy behind bars. Police said that cameras were mounted in every room so Piercy could keep a close eye on everyone.
As he was being led to jail Wednesday night, Randall Piercy told Channel 4 that he did nothing wrong.
"This is totally unfair. I'm a very, very, very loving father," Randall Piercy said.
The father claims he is the victim of a vendetta by his in-laws. He told police he kept the boy in the room because he "believed it was in the best interest of the child."
The child's mother is not charged, but police are still investigating her involvement.
Jacob said his father's arrest brings him the closure he's needed. He's happy for his little brother and hopes no other child ever has to endure the pain he went through.
"He was never a loving father to me," Jacob said. "I've had years to get over it. With this coming back up, I've gotten some closure."
Randall Piercy is being held on $1 million bond and the 9-year-old was ordered into state protective custody.
