JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police, co-workers and friends are searching for Jimmy Horton, 65, who was last seen on Friday.
Horton's boss at Crew's Sheet Metal, Paul Crews, said Horton has not missed a day of work in more than 10 years.
He said when Horton didn't show up for work on Monday, they were worried, but it was when they went to his home and found his dog left alone in the back yard that they became even more concerned.
"We just knew something was wrong," Crews said. "He is more than a worker to us. He is like family."
When friends went to Horton's Tallyrand house to check on him, they found his bicycle -- his only means of transportation -- was still there and his dog had not been given food or water.
"He won't leave the dog at his house for very long by himself -- he never would," friend Mike Poston said. "For him to leave his dog still at his house, something's wrong."
Poston has given Horton a ride to and from work for nearly seven years.
Family members told Channel 4 Horton didn't drive. So, they were very concerned when they came to his house and found that his bike had been tied up next to the house and had not been moved in nearly a week.
"We would like to find him. Jimmy is a hard worker, and it is out of his character not to be here," Poston said.
Police told Channel 4's Casey Black they are actively investigating and suspect foul play.
Anyone with information about Horton is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
