FHP Looks For Car That Kills Pedestrian On US 1

POSTED: Friday, January 12, 2007

Police are looking for a vehicle that struck a 22-year-old man who was walking across U.S. Route 1 south of St. Augustine Thursday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Dustin Padley was crossing the highway at Shore Drive at 8:20 p.m. when he was hit by a large white sedan with a vinyl top, which knocked him onto the grass shoulder of the road.

Padley was taken to Flagler Hospital, but died at 11:34 p.m. that night.

The vehicle, possibly a Lincoln that would now have damage to the front end and possibly its windshield, fled the scene southbound on U.S. 1, according to the FHP.

Anyone with information that could help locate the vehicle or driver is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 904-301-3700, extension 108.
