JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Five Mandarin teens were arrested on Thursday -- a couple of days after three BB gun shootings were reported in a Mandarin neighborhood, authorities said.
According to police, the shootings took place on Monday in the Julington Creek area and occurred just blocks and hours apart.
Police are not confirming whether the shootings and the five arrests are connected.
However, one of the victims told Channel 4 he picked three Mandarin high school students out of about 30 mugshots that officers brought to his home on Thursday.
Josh Shular said it was daytime when he was walking down the street and saw a gun before feeling a pain in his arm.
"I was walking down the street near the gutter when a car came by and shot me," said Shelar. "I just see a car coming down, and like a week ago, we heard about this guy getting shot and killed. I see this gun and I'm like, 'Great, I'm going to be dead.'"
Shular was shot with BBs in the arm and chest.
The incident was one of the three that took place on Monday.
The first shooting happened at about 1 p.m., on Hood Landing Road. The second took place at 3:24 p.m., on Julington Creek Road. The third happened at 4:20 p.m., on Wilderness Court.
The victim said police came to him with about 30 mugshots, asking him if he could identify who had shot him.
"The police came by early this morning and showed me some photographs. I pointed out a couple mugshots. They were Mandarin high school students," Shelar said.
According to police reports, the first victim said he heard four loud pops and then felt a sting on his left shoulder and right leg. The second victim said he felt a sharp pain in the left forearm, and that within a few seconds he realized he had been shot with a BB.
All three of the victims reported to police that they saw a gold vehicle leaving the scene after they heard the shots fired.
Police reports state that after the shootings police searched the Mandarin area for the shooters, but no arrests were made that day.
