10-year-old hit by car on Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 10-year-old boy crossing a busy Westside street Tuesday afternoon suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a slow-moving car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard at Confederate Point Road. Troopers said the boy was crossing against the light. The first two cars stopped to avoid hitting him, but a car in the third lane struck the boy.

The victim was taken to UF Health Jacksonville. 

The FHP is expected to release more details when the investigation is completed.
