10-year-old pays it forward after thieves steal friend's bike

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Most 10-year-old's are focused on playing with action figures and video games, but one Northside 10-year-old is focused on giving back.

When Tykese Williams-Jordan learned that his friend's bike was stolen he jumped into action to cheer him up.

It was a living testament to the fact that it doesn't matter your age, you can be kind and lend a helping hand.

Two months ago someone stole 7-year-old Jerald Wynn's bicycle and that's when Williams-Jordan, or TJ, as his friends and family call him, decided to step in for his young comrade.

"I had $911 at Bretmar but my teacher added some extra money because I've been good the past few days," TJ said.

Bretmar is a small store located in Brentwood Elementary where students can turn good behavior into money that they can use in the store and TJ used his hard-earned good behavior bucks to buy the bike he promised to his best friend.

"I said thank you and I kept saying it because I really missed my old bike, so I told him three times," Wynn said.

Wynn's mother, Tameka Wynn, couldn't hold back the tears of joy when she found out what TJ had done. "You hear about adults paying it forward but not a 10-year-old child to a 7-year-old.

Jerald Wynn is now back in action, doing wheelies and tricks with TJ with plans to share their friendship with others by starting a bike club.

"As people would say, "they love their friends really much. I love this one very much," TJ said.

Because of the outpouring of support on the News4Jax Facebook and Twitter pages the mothers of both boys have allowed News4Jax to publish their phone numbers for people wanting to pay it forward to the boys who embody the idea.
