No Students Hurt In School Bus Accident

Traffic Light Was Out At Intersection

POSTED: Monday, April 16, 2007

No students were injured after a car hit a school bus in Arlington early Monday, but the driver of the car was hospitalized.

Police said the traffic lights were out at Merrill and Rogero roads and the bus stopped, then proceeded into the intersection just before 7 a.m., but the car did not stop. The bus attempted to avoid the accident but ended up going onto the sidewalk, running over some bushes, a fence and a street sign.

The 12 students and driver on the school bus were not hurt. The driver of car was transported to a hospital. No information was available on that person's identity and the nature of the injury, although police said she would be charged with the accident.

By 8 a.m. the crash was cleared, but crews were still working to fix the traffic light at the intersection.
