JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dozens of brides who were concerned that they wouldn't get their dresses from a well-known Mandarin bridal shop after it suddenly went out of business have received their merchandise.
However, several other customers who are preparing to tie the knot said they're still trying to avoid a wedding dress disaster.
Antoinette Davis ordered her wedding dress from Riverside Gown Shop, which closed its doors in June, and said she paid several hundred dollars as a down payment.
"It was ivory, and I had a veil. It was strapless. I was going to add the train. It had sequins in the front and back. It was real beautiful," Davis said.
She said after she saw the story on the news she went to the shop to pay the money she owed and pick up her dress.
However, Davis said she still doesn't have her dress and hasn't heard from Riverside Gown Shop owner Alison Curtis.
Curtis told Channel 4 that she has tried to contact all of her customers on numerous occasions but hasn't been able to get through to Davis.
"No, because she had my work number, and she had my cell phone number," Davis disagreed.
She said she tried to contact the shop owner herself but hasn't been able to get the correct number.
Davis said when she first stopped by the shop there was no sign or any way for her to get ahold of the owner.
Since then, the owner has posted her contact information on the door. The same contact information is listed on the shop's voice-mail recording, which allowed dozens of brides to get the right number.
One of the brides-to-be said she called the number and easily got in touch with Curtis, who personally met her to deliver the dress.
"She had my dress and my veil exactly as ordered, and I tried it on. She was very personable and apologetic," said the bride-to-be.
