Woman Found Dead In Jeep 9 Hours After Wreck

POSTED: Wednesday, July 25, 2007

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash that killed a St. Augustine woman Tuesday night.

According to the FHP, 63-year-old Susan Bryant was driving west on county Road 208 and approaching Pacetti Road about 10:30 p.m. when her Jeep Cherokee crossed onto the shoulder as the road began to curve.

Investigators said Bryant overcorrected, crossed the highway, left the road and overturned into a field.

The wrecked SUV with Bryant still inside was discovered until 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Troopers said the Jeep's air bags deployed, but Bryant was not wearing a seat belt.
